The General Purposes of Parishes

Sometimes bequests are made “for the general purposes of the parish”. This can happen in any parish, and the following explanation applies to all parishes.

What is given “for the general purposes of the parish” is given to help the parish participate in the life and mission of the Church.   The parish has no other “purposes”.  

Participating in the life and mission of the Church starts within the parish and moves outwards.....
